Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine, a Philadelphia native was raised and born in the city. Pam her mother has been a backup singer in the past at Philadelphia International Records. In the year she turned 5 old, her father landed a position as a curator at The city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the landmark historical building. The year 2005 marks her Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts student and a major in singing. Sullivan performed as a contralto member of the youth choir, and a few more years later, in the adult chorus. Sullivan was never familiar with secular music until first. "When I reached 11 years old, someone asked me to sign up for one of the gospel records. I wasn't going to sign up for that," she says. "Then McDonald's offered a competition to kids from cities. It was then that I had an opportunity to perform What God Wills on Showtime Apollo. The crowd was supportive." Stevie Wonder sang her part on the 13th birthday of her grandson. Sullivan had signed her first contract with Jive Records when she was 15. It was her first time signing with Jive Records in the year 15. She produced an entire album. The album never saw release. Sullivan was ultimately dismissed at the hands of the company. They maintained a friendship with Missy Elliott she produced many of the tracks on her debut album, which included the hit single "Backstabbers" - produced by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
